Staff Reporter, Sylhet: Four people were burnt to death when a gas cylinder of Noah’s car exploded on the Sylhet-Zakiganj road. Three died on the spot and another died on the way to the hospital. 3 more people were seriously injured and are undergoing treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Rajan Ahmed, 27, son of Kunu Mia of Barai village in Charkhai union of Beanibazar upazila, Sunam Ahmed, 26, son of Abdul Jalil of the same village and microbus driver and Hasan Ahmed, 8, son of Manju Mia of Rafipur village in Fulbari union of Golapganj upazila.
It is learned that a passenger microbus (Noah) hit the back of a freight truck in front of Mollagram Government Primary School in Hetimganj West Bazar area of Golapganj upazila on Sylhet-Zakiganj road around 5:30 am on Wednesday.
Three people were burnt to death on the spot. The fire broke out when a cylinder exploded in a colony on the side of the road, setting the child on fire. He later died on the way to hospital with serious injuries. Three others injured in the incident are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Confirming the matter, fire service inspector Alauddin Monir said a team of them reached the spot at around 5.45 am after receiving the news of the incident. But before that, Noah’s car caught fire and was reduced to ashes.
The bodies of 3 people were recovered from the spot. The other injured were rescued and sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Alauddin, a fire service inspector, also confirmed that a child had died on the way to the hospital. The incident cast a shadow of mourning over the local area.
