Jannatul Ferdous Meem: Khulna University held various programs with due dignity and solemnity to commemorate the martyrs of December 14 tragedy, as the nation observes Martyred Intellectuals Day.
On the occasion, at 9:30 in the morning, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad FayekUzzaman on behalf of the University paid homage to the martyred intellectuals at OdommaBangla. Afterwards, tribute was paid by respective disciplines, different residential halls, Khulna University Teachers’ Association, Swadhinata Teachers’ Council, BangabandhuParishad, KU Officers’ Welfare Council, Muktijuddha and BangabandhuParishad.
Among other programs, prayer mahfilafter Zohar at the University Jame Mosque and prayers at the University Temple was held on Martyred Intellectuals Day. In the evening, lamps were lit at Shaheed Minar and Odomma Bangla Chattar.
Earlier, black badges were worn in front of Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Building at 9 am.Subsequently,the national flag was lowered at half-mast to honor the martyrs, and black flag was hoistedat 9:15 am. Later, on the eve of paying homage under the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership, a rally was carried out from the front of Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Building and ended at Odomma Bangla Chattar. At that time, the Pro-VC Prof. Dr.MosummathHosnaAra, Deans, Head of Disciplines, Provost, Head of Departments, Teachers, Officers and Staff were present.
