Human chain in BSMRSTU to protest the vandalism of the sculpture under construction of Bangabandhu

BSMRSTU correspondent: The teachers’ association of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology (BSMRSTU ) in Gopalganj has organized a human chain to protest against religious misinterpretation of sculpture, contempt of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, insulting remarks and vandalism of sculpture under construction.

At 11:30 on Monday, the Bashemurabiprabi Teachers’ Association held a human chain in front of the main gate of the university.

Dr. Hasibur Rahman, President of Bashemurbiprabi Teachers Association, Rakibul Islam, General Secretary, Dr. Dean of the Faculty of Engineering were present in the human chain. Md. Shahjahan, Dean of Humanities Faculty Mohammad Ashiquzzaman Bhuiyan, Proctor Raziur Rahman, Md. Fayekuzzaman Mia, Zakia Sultana Mukta, Shamsul Arefin and other teachers.

Earlier on Sunday morning, the Bashemur Biprabi Teachers’ Association said in a press release that some fanatical extremist groups had recently mocked and insulted Bangabandhu by opposing the construction of the sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, which amounted to treason. Meanwhile, a sculpture under construction in Bangabandhu in Kushtia has shown the audacity of a nasty incident like vandalism.

Such audacity is a threat to freedom and the principles of the state, and it is a far-reaching tactic to use Islam for political gain, motivated by anti-independence motives. This fundamentalist group is trying to confuse the devout people of Bangladesh by uniting idols and sculptures.
