Sylhet Bureau: A free medical camp has been held on the occasion of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. A free medical camp was organized on Friday (December 4) at the initiative of Md. Jilu Miah, former general secretary of Umarpur Union Awami League in Usmaninagar upazila of Sylhet and son of a martyr in the liberation war.
The free medical camp was organized at the house of former chairman Haji Amin Uddin in memory of Shaheed Haji Md. Ajib Uddin Tendul, Shaheed Md. Shafiq Mia, Shaheed Md. Tuta Mia, Martyr Md. Madrich Mia, Martyr Shri Upendra Kumar Shukla Badya. During this time more than five hundred patients were given medical treatment.
Former general secretary of Umarpur Union Awami League Md. Jilu Mia, freedom fighter Nurul Wahid Tarun, president of Union Awami League Md. Dabir Mia, Md. Angur Mia were present at the inaugural function. Medical officer of Jalalabad Ragib Rabia Medical College Dr. Yahya Ibn Elias and Medical Officer of Mount Edora Hospital Dr. Jannatul Ferdous provided treatment.
Md. Jilu Mia said, “As a child of a freedom fighter family, I demand to the Hon’ble Prime Minister to officialize the Shaheed Minar under construction in Assad.” My father, former chairman late Amin Uddin, has worked for the people of the area. Remembering the path shown by my father, I am working for the backward and poor people of the area.
I want to work with more people as a people’s representative in the future union elections. I was still involved in the politics of Awami League starting from Chhatra League in my school life. I want the overall cooperation of people from all walks of life in the area and the union.
Jilu Mia says, in order to introduce the new generation to the martyrs of this union in the war of liberation, I have organized this free medical camp in their memory in the month of victory.
