Jannatul Ferdous Meem: Khulna University, a pilgrimage site for accumulating knowledge of South Bengal, has completed thirty years from its inception. The institution, free from session clutter, terror and politics, marked its three-decade journey and University Day through various programs including webinars and processions on the 25th of November. Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni addressed the webinar as the chief guest.
In her congratulatory speech, Dr. Dipu Moni, Minister of Education, said that the culmination of three-decade-long educational activities is undoubtedly a memorable and glorious milestone in this institution’s progress. In her own words, Khulna University has been able to create a distinctive position in higher education and research in the country. She hoped that the university would rank among the best in the world by continuing this trend and enhancing the quality of education and research. She extended her heartfelt greetings to all, including the teachers and students of the university on this special day. Deputy Minister of Education, Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury addressed the function as a special guest.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Fayek Uzzaman, chaired the webinar. On behalf of the university, he thanked the Minister of Education and the Deputy Minister for providing guidance and inspiration through their greeting speech on occasion and joining the webinar as the chief guest and special guest. Pro-VC of the University, Prof. Dr. Mosummath Hosna Ara and Treasurer Professor Sadhan Ranjan Ghosh joined the webinar as the special guest. Registrar (Acting) Prof. Khan Golam Quddus also addressed the function as a panelist.
Earlier, the program was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor in front of the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Administration Building at 10.30 am. Soon after, a colorful procession was taken out on the campus. While maintaining the physical distance, the procession reached Hadi Chattar, where the Vice-Chancellor initiated the University Day and three-decade completion of educational activities by flying balloons. He regarded campus expansion as indispensable for the university and owing to the purpose, stated his concern for more land.
Later, the procession came to an end at the pedestal of Bangabandhu’s mural. In a brief congratulatory speech, the Vice-Chancellor expressed his deep gratitude to all those, including the people of Khulna and the region, who have contributed in various ways since the struggle to establish Khulna University. He also thanked the teachers, students, staff, and employees who have worked tirelessly since the beginning to the present day for bringing the institution to this position. Later, Vice-Chancellor inaugurated a mural and guest room at Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall’s entrance in remembrance of Bangamata. The mural of Bangamata was made by Md. Nadimuddaula, Assistant Professor of Printmaking Discipline and Pradeep Mandal, Co-Artist.
Pro-VC Professor Dr. Mosummath Hosna Ara, Treasurer Professor Sadhan Ranjan Ghosh, Deans, Registrar (Acting), Head of Disciplines, Director of Student Affairs, Head of Departments including Provost and teachers, officers and staff of the University were present in these programs. Other programs included special prayers at the university’s central mosque and the adjoining mosque to the administrative building after Zohar and prayers at the university temple. In the evening, illumination has also been arranged at the main gate, adjacent road, and Shahid Tajuddin Ahmed administration building.
