Cox’s Bazar correspondent: Tras Khokon in the BSCIC area of Link Road in Cox’s Bazar – a common man who is unhappy with the reckless extortion and oppression of the Liaquat Syndicate. Recently, a young man named Iqbal Nahid was allegedly beaten to death by Khokon-Liaquat forces.
It is known on the spot that they have been occupying government land for several years and selling it 2 to 3 times per land. As a result, ordinary people lose money and become destitute.
Again, they need a large number of manpower for these works. So a number of young people in the area are invited to join the profession. When they did not respond to their call, the youths were tortured.
The youth alleged that Abdul Khaleq, son of the late Lokman Hakim, had gone to his house in the middle of the night on November 9 and verbally abused him and threatened to kill him.
Abdul Khaleq said about this,
KHOKON – Some members of the Liaquat forces sent hired thugs to my house and threatened to kill and kidnap me. Because I did not respond to their immoral actions. A few days ago, they beat my cousin Iqbal Nahid to death for not responding to their immoral acts. Now he is fighting for his life in the hospital.
As I am unsafe with my life as I may be injured in this way, a general diary was recorded at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station on November 16 against 4 persons (Monir Ahmed’s son – Didarul Alam Khokon, Akbar Ahmed’s son Liaquat Ali, Kitab Ali and Bappi). Whose number is – 982. I seek the intervention of the administration in this matter.
Tipu Sultan, chairman of Jhilangja Union Parishad, said, “I have heard that such an incident is happening in BSCIC area.” No matter how strong the criminals are, we will crack down on them on behalf of the council.
It is to be noted that they occupied the land from Uthuni of Link Road BSC to Sirajghona. If someone comes from outside and buys land, they have to pay a large sum of money.
Earlier – Khokon – Manzoor Mia Prakash Hafeez, Azizullah Prakash Kalu, Shahjahan and many others who were harassed by the Liaquat forces have been assaulted by them and also lost land deposits and property.
