Tarikul Islam, Khulna: Khulna City Corporation Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleq said food aid has been provided to more than one million destitute and helpless people in the metropolis during the Corona period. Due to the strong steps of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the coronavirus infection could not take shape in the country.
The mayor was speaking as the chief guest while inaugurating a two-day training workshop on Covid-19 Risk Prevention at Khulna Caritas Auditorium on Tuesday morning at the initiative of private development agency Caritas and with the support of GIZ project.
The city mayor said the Corona government had declared a seven-day general holiday. But even in him, everything is going according to the rules, life has not stopped. The government has made the use of masks mandatory to prevent coronavirus.
There is no mask or service. The death rate in Corona is lower in Bangladesh than in other countries and the incidence rate is much lower. Corona infections can increase in the winter, he said. Therefore, in order to prevent corona, everyone has to follow the government’s health rules, maintain social distance and come forward to raise awareness.
Md. Abir-ul-Jabbar, Chief Planning Officer, KCC and Dawood Jiban Das, Regional Director, Khulna Caritas addressed the workshop as special guests. It was presided over by Caritas President James Ramen Bairagi. Alexander Tripura, Manager, Caritas Central Office, presented the concept paper on the project. The training workshop was attended by 35 officers and employees from Khulna, Barisal and Satkhira.
