Asaduzzaman Khairul, Savar (Dhaka) Correspondent: Savar Titas Gas Authority has disconnected 600 illegal gas connections in an area of two kilometers in Ashulia, Savar. At the same time arrears of around Tk 50 lakh were collected from 12 customers.
Abu Sadat Mohammad Sayem, managing engineer of Savar Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited, conducted the operation in Rashid Market and Madhya Gazirchat area of Ashulia on Wednesday October 14th.
Engineer Abu Sadat Mohammad Sayem told Daily Morning Glory that since this morning, the Titas Gas Authority has raided Rashid Market and Madhya Gazirchat area and disconnected 600 illegal gas. Thousands of underground gas supply pipes were also seized from several key points. The used riser was later removed and the lines were sealed. At the same time, arrears of around Tk 50 lakh were collected from legal gas connection customers.
He said that a case has also been filed against the unscrupulous person for illegally taking gas connection from the people of the area. All illegal gas lines will be cut off in Savar and Ashulia in phases throughout the month.
Deputy Manager of Savar Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited Engineer Mahmud Hasan, Engineer Nazmul Hasan Nayan, Engineer Mumtaz, Engineer Sumon Das, Contractor Md. Monir Hossain and other senior officials were present during the operation.
Besides, police of Ashulia and Savar police stations were deployed to avoid any untoward incident.
