Sylhet Correspondent: Amphetamine was brought from India in front of Sarukhel West Government Primary School in Charikata Union of Sylhet Jaintapur Upazila on Sunday (May 30) at 9:30 pm in a CNG autorickshaw with unnumbered token called “Rezwan and Raihan Express Ma Baba Baba Doa”. The team of Jaintapur Model Police arrested two persons along with 240 bags of Indian amphetamine national yaba and 30 liters of domestic liquor in 13 plastic bottles kept in shopping bags while transporting the distilled liquor collected by tea workers in the garden to Sylhet city.
The detainees were identified as Rafiqur Rahman, 45, son of late Sona Miah of Mati Purbangsh village under Thakur of Chiknagul union in Jaintapur upazila, and Mohammad Masuk Ahmed, 35, son of Mohammad Abdul Latif of Chiknagul East Satjani village in the same union. Police further said that they have come to know through various media sources that a gang of smugglers has been smuggling drugs through CNG-powered autorickshaws without number plates through various border routes in Charikata Union of the upazila for a long time. Meanwhile, the police is conducting regular operations to make the upazila drug freeJaintapur Model Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Dastagir Ahmed confirmed the arrest.
